Juventus agree £105m Fee with Real Madrid for Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo’s 9-year career with Real Madrid has come to an end after Juventus and Real Madrid agreed a fee of £105 million.

In a rapidly developing transfer story, Juventus offered Ronaldo a 4-year deal worth £500,000-a-week, which has been finalised by the player and Juventus club president Andrea Agnelli, who flew in his private jet to Greece where Ronaldo has been on holiday.

Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes confirmed last week that talks were ongoing with both Real and Juventus, although suggestions that the deal and medical had already been done appear to have been mere speculation.

Leading Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague, also confirmed that meetings have taken place and also stressed that one of the reasons for Ronaldo wanting to leave was due to the break down in the relationship between Real President Florentino Pérez and the player himself.

After beating Juventus in the 2016/17 Champions League Final, Ronaldo was promised a new contract which never materialized, a year later and following their final win over Liverpool apparently a new offer was almost reluctantly tabled by Real as SPORTSvox reported.

The news will come as a bitter blow for Real Madrid fans that have first had to deal with the sudden departure of manager Zinedine Zidane and now their five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo.

During his nine seasons with Los Blancos, the Portuguese superstar won 15-trophies, four of those the Champions League, scoring an incredible 450 goals in 438 games. To say he will be sorely missed is an understatement.

That said if the player wants a new challenge, then surely the fans should let him leave with their blessing after everything he has done?

Ronaldo Statement

These years in Real Madrid, and in this city of Madrid, have been possibly the happiest of my life.

I only have feelings of enormous gratitude for this club, for this hobby and for this city. I can only thank all of them for the love and affection I have received.

However, I believe that the time has come to open a new stage in my life and that is why I have asked the club to accept transferring me. I feel that way and I ask everyone, and especially our followers, to please understand me.

They have been absolutely wonderful for nine years. They have been nine unique years. It has been an exciting time for me, full of consideration but also hard because Real Madrid is of a very high demand, but I know very well that I will never forget that I have enjoyed football here in a unique way.

I have had fabulous teammates in the field and in the dressing room, I have felt the warmth of an incredible crowd and together we have won three Champions in a row and four Champions in five years. And with them also, on an individual level, I have the satisfaction of having won four Gold Balls and three Gold Boots. All during my time in this immense and extraordinary club.

Real Madrid has conquered my heart, and that of my family, and that is why more than ever I want to say thank you: thanks to the club, the President, the directors, my colleagues, all the technicians, doctors, physios and incredible workers that make everything work and that are pending every detail tirelessly.

Thank you infinitely once more to our fans and thanks also to Spanish Football. During these nine exciting years I have had great players in front of me. My respect and my recognition for all of them.

I have reflected a lot and I know that the time has come for a new cycle. I’m leaving but this shirt, this shield and the Santiago Bernabéu will continue to always feel as my own wherever I am.

Thanks to all and, of course, as I said that first time in our stadium nine years ago: Hala Madrid!

What sort of an effect will this have on Real? Is Neymar actually on his way to Madrid? What about the future of Gareth Bale? Will the Welshman now be guaranteed more football? Still so many questions to be answered at the Santiago Bernabeu before the start of the new season!

However for the juventus fans, this is just the beginning of another new chapter in the history of their great club. Pretty sure the scenes in Turin will be quite incredible when this news is confirmed!
