City get their man Mahrez

So that’s it, World Cup is over and we can all return to watching the best league in the World. The dream has finally come to an end. Faith is restored in the English national team and the future looks bright.

The show must go on though. As there is just under a month to the start of the Premier League season, things are starting to get busy. SPORTSvox continues to keep up to date with the latest signings in our ‘Transfer Watch’.

Manchester City Finally Get Their Man

As reported in our earlier Transfer Watch Leicester had signed Maddison from Norwich. This move now aligns with the knowledge that Mahrez was moving on from the former premier League Champions.

Manchester City had originally looked to sign Mahrez in the winter transfer window but failed to agree terms. Persistence and a large cheque book is always key however and City have completed the £60 million deal for the talented winger.

With the array of talent already at City, it will be interesting to see who Mahrez will replace in the starting eleven.

Loving the ‘Irons’ Ambition

The big movers over the last week have been West Ham. Having moved to their new stadium the ‘Irons’ have failed to win over many segments of the fans thus far. New Season, new manager in Manuel Pellegrini and lots of optimism with some positive signings already.

Having secured an out of contract Jack Wilshere for free from Arsenal, West Ham have now secured the talents of Andriy Yarmolenko from Borussia Dortmund. I am a massive fan of this player and will be keeping a close eye on how he performs in the Premier League after a slightly disappointing spell at Dortmund.

Same Old Same Old at Arsenal

After years of Arsenal fans seeing Wenger purchase young French talent in every season, you think things may now change under Emery. Quite the opposite, Emery already having signed 4 players already, has now secured the services of the 19 year old French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient for £8 million.

Could he be another Thierry Henry? Emery will hope he won’t end up like many others that have come and gone at Arsenal.
