Premier League Preview

Going through a terrible run at the moment, that started so promisingly last week. First four results predicted with a correct score to boot, but alas it was not to be. A once banker side in United are just not a model of consistency anymore. Or maybe they are actually but just at a lower level, sorry United fans. Let’s try and get back on track as SPORTSvox takes a look at the fixtures this week in our Premier League preview.

Cardiff v Wolves

Cardiff will be looking for two home wins in a row, but Wolves have a better head to head record. ‘The Bluebirds’ showed a lot of spirit against Everton so we think it’ll be a tight match.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Crystal Palace v Burnley

With this clash between two clubs perilously near the bottom of the table you can bet that each team is going to do its best not to lose. Burnley are letting in goals like their defence is still on summer break and Crystal Palace are struggling to find the back of the net. This should be a fun game to watch. Or a complete borefest.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Huddersfield v Brighton

Huddersfield are on a three match unbeaten run which keeps them two points away from the relegation zone. While Brighton’s in-form striker Glenn Murray is the current joint top scoring Englishman in the league. Is that a sign on how good he is or how crap the English game has become?

Prediction: 1 – 0

Leicester v Watford

Since Leicester won the Premier League back in 2015-16, they’ve never come close to reaching those heights again. Meanwhile Watford have had their best start to a Premier League season so far. Watford are only 2 points above Leicester in the table so this is going to be another tight match.

Prediction: 2 – 2

Man City v Bournemouth

Let’s be honest, there is no way Manchester City is going to lose this match. They’ve already scored 40 goals after 13 games. Bournemouth have now lost three games in a row. Let’s make that four after Saturday.

Prediction: 3 – 1

Newcastle v West Ham

Both of these teams are eerily similar. Both hiring high-profile managers, both having a terrible start to the campaign, and both now on the rebound. We expect another tightly contested affair here with not much to separate the two.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Southampton v Man United

You know that Manchester United is no longer the power it used to be when you’re looking forward to seeing if Jose Mourinho will smash water bottles for fun rather than how the team will actually perform. Southampton have been in uninspired form (I mean they lost to Fulham!) and if nothing improves quickly we will see Mark Hughes sized gap in the dugout soon.

Prediction: 0 – 1

Chelsea v Fulham

You’ve got to wonder if the algorithm that creates fixtures has a sense of humour. Three derbies in one day, but this will probably be the only walk over. We can’t see Fulham putting up any sort of fight against a rampant Chelsea. Doesn’t matter that they lost against Spurs, Sarri will be looking for a reaction from his team and he’ll get one. …and yes, we know they beat 10 man PAOK, but let’s be honest, that was a cakewalk.

Prediction: 3 – 1

Arsenal v Tottenham

Arsenal are terrible in the first half of every single game they’ve played so far, except for Thursday’s Europa League match. Meanwhile, Tottenham have been on a great run of scoring first half goals. This is going to be a cracking game. If you want some more insight head on over to our Match of the Week preview.

Prediction: 2 – 2

Liverpool v Everton

I’m sure there are plenty of Everton fans out there that think they can win this time around, but, well… they won’t. Everton haven’t beaten Liverpool 2010 and with Mo Salah returning to form we can’t see this trend being overturned. If you want some more insight head on over to our Match of the Week preview.

Prediction: 2 – 1
