Lewandowski puts clubs on red alert

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has put Europe’s top clubs on red alert after his agent declared the player is ready for a fresh challenge, following four successful seasons with the Bundesliga giants.

Lewandowski has been one of Europe’s most consistent strikers over the last several years, firstly with Borussia Dortmund where he scored 74 goals in 131 matches, and then rivals Bayern Munich where he found the back of the net on 106 occasions in 126 matches since his move in 2014.

His four-year spell with Bayern also saw him win four consecutive Bundesliga titles, however success in the Champions League has been hard to come by.

In February of this year the Polish international decided to part company with his agent of 10 years Cezary Kucharski, switching over to Pini Zahavi, the man behind the £198million transfer of Neymar from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

This move seemed to suggest that there could be movement this summer, especially after a season that has reaped 42 goals in 51 games, in all competitions.

Manchester United have in previous season expressed an interest in the player, although it appears the early front runners to get his signature are Real Madrid and PSG.

Chelsea have also put the 29-year-old at the top of their shopping list as they look to offload flop Alvaro Morata back to Juventus, although they have managerial issues to deal with first by ending Antonio’s contract and bringing in former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri.

It has been reported that Chelsea have suspended all transfers until this has been resolved although in the wake of Pini Zahavi’s comments today, this could spark Chelsea back to life.

Earlier The Bild reported that Lewandowski’s agent had stressed the player is seeking an exit this summer and is ready for a new challenge, “Robert feels he needs a change and a new challenge in his career,” Zahavi said. “The managers of Bayern know about it.”

Lewandowski is contracted until 2021, with Bayern insisting their front man is not for sale. That said he has come off another top class season and in the prime of his career, so one can expect the interested parties to offer a rather large sum of money that Bayern will find difficult to refuse.
